Posidonia Compost Ltd
Cultivating Earth’s Growth, One Compost at a Time
Posidonia Compost derives from the biological fermentation of a sea plant "Posidonia oceanica" using dead leaves, washed up on tourist beaches) and selected products of agriculture (olive core, olive leaves, grape skin), without any chemical addition or processes.

The product is free of physical contaminants, viable weed seeds and pathogens, an is untreated by any additives. It is nature's traditional compost - an excellent peat-free soil improver.

About Posidonia Compost
-
Fine texture allows for easy mixing with soil, promoting better soil aeration and water retention.

-
Optimal bulk density facilitates handling and application, ensuring even distribution across the fields.

-
Balance of moisture and dry matter promotes microbial activity and nutrient release in the soil upon application.

-
High level of organic matter improves soil structure, enhances water retention capacity, and provides a slow-release source of nutrients for plant growth.

-
Balanced carbon-to-nitrogen ratio supports microbial decomposition of organic matter, ensuring a steady release of nutrients for plant uptake while preventing nitrogen immobilisation.

-
Suitable for a wide range of crops and soil types without posing risks of nutrient imbalances or toxicity.

-
Sustainable alternative to industrial fertilisers, contributing to improved soil fertility, crop productivity, and environmental sustainability in agriculture.
The Mediterranean Sea is home to the seagrass type Posidonia Oceanica, often referred to as “the green lung of the sea”. Covering only 0.1–0.2% of the global ocean surface, meadows of the sixty-four existing seagrass species worldwide contribute an estimated 10% of the total organic carbon burial, as well as providing many other important ecosystem services.
The leaves that die, or are damaged by boats and anchors, are washed up on the beaches and are a hindrance for tourism.
Municipalities are obliged to collect and remove the seagrass from the beaches. Collection is easy – the problem is what to do with the seagrass. Posidonia Compost Ltd now has a solution to turn the “garbage” into a sustainable ecologically sound commercial commodity.

This is beneficial for the environment, helps the municipalities comply with EU environmental regulations and returns organic waste to nature as a product that both stabilises the soil and provides nutrients for plants and crops.
